USC Viterbi Brick Campaign FAQs
I haven’t heard anything; where is my brick?
We are notifying donors of their bricks via e-mail (which should have been provided when the payment form was completed). If you have not received an e-mail from our office about the status of your brick, please contact our office at viterbi.giving@edu or call 213.821.2921. Please write in the subject line of your e-mail: “Brick Campaign”.
We will keep you updated about the confirmation of your order; approval about the verbiage that will be inscribed on the brick before it is sent to production; and when your brick has been completed and placed on campus via the email address you provide. Please contact us if your e-mail address has changed during the inscription process.
When will I get to see my inscribed brick?
We plan on installing the bricks during the Spring of 2017 (by April 1, 2017). You will receive an e-mail notifying you that the project has been completed.
*NOTE: The installation date may be delayed due to various reasons, such as weather and production time, but we will keep you posted via e-mail.
All are welcome to visit campus to see the bricks at any time once they have been installed. When planning your trip, check our website to make sure the campus is open to the public on the day you wish to visit.
Can I inscribe anything I wish to on my brick?
The USC Viterbi Advancement Office must approve all inscribed messages beyond name and class information. Any proof you receive from us will have already been accepted by our office. If any changes need to be made to the brick, we will contact you before finalizing the inscription.
How many characters and lines can fit on a brick?
The brick can accommodate 3 lines of text with 15 characters per line (including spaces).
Here are a few acceptable examples (your inscription will be automatically capitalized and appear centered):
Will I see a proof before my brick is ordered?
Yes, you will receive an email to confirm the inscription on your brick after you place your order and have made your gift in support of USC Viterbi. However, the brick is not finalized until the USC Viterbi Advancement Office gives final approval on the inscription message.
*NOTE: If you are making pledge payments towards your gift, your brick will not be sent for production until the pledge payment has been completed.
Where will the brick be placed?
The bricks will be placed in the Epstein Family Engineering Plaza (formerly known as Engineering Quad / Archimedes Plaza) in front of Vivian Hall, in the area where the David M. Wilson and Neil Armstrong Statues are located. Please click here to see the location of the bricks.
Can I choose a specific location in the Epstein Family Engineering Plaza to place my brick or make sure that my inscribed brick is near another specific brick?
We will do our best to have your brick placed according to your special instructions. However, due to the large number of bricks expected and the limited space available, we cannot guarantee placement.
Can I order a brick on behalf of my current student/graduating senior or an alumnus/a?
Yes, absolutely! Simply provide their name, class or expected graduation year and major on the order form, as well as the message (if any) you want inscribed on one or both of the two lines available.
If I purchase a brick in honor of my current student/graduating senior or an alumnus/a, can you notify the person/family that I am inscribing a brick in their honor?
Yes, we are happy to assist you in sending out a recognition letter to the individual or the individual’s family about your gift. Simply forward us the confirmation e-mail you receive along with the name, mailing address and email of the person you’d like to receive the letter to firstname.lastname@example.org.

Can I direct my brick campaign gift to another department or area at USC?
All gifts to the brick campaign must be made in support of an area within the USC Viterbi School of Engineering.
Is the entire amount of the gift I make tax-deductible?
Yes. The brick inscribed with your message will be the property of University of Southern California. You will not receive any goods or services in exchange for your gift, so the donation can be fully tax-deductible.
I made my gift prior to the Brick Campaign launching. Can you apply that gift to my brick?
This is a special offer, so only donors who make a gift during and through our brick campaign may receive an inscribed brick. If you have already made a gift, but would like to have a brick placed on campus, please consider making another gift or pledge (over 2-4 months) and we can create a brick for you.
I would like to speak with someone further about this brick campaign, whom can I contact?
